PAVAGADH:-The first world heritage site of Gujarat

The Kalika Mataji Temple is situated on 2730 Feet height  from sea level and top of narrow peak. As the temple is situated on the top of Pavagadh, it natural and wonderful atmosphere attracts the pilgrims. In past, great RishiMuni Shri Vishvamitre established Kalika Temple at this place.

Upto 15th Century, this place was the centre of trust for Hindu Pilgrims. But Mehmud Begda won this powerful Hindu State in 1484 and the temple was partially destroyed. After 200-250 years, Gwalior’s Maratha Sardar Shri Mahadji Sindhiya renovated this temple and fitted stairs of 225 steps from Dudhia pond. But during the Maratha rulers, some people established Sadanshah Derah on the top of  Garbh Gruh and that Derah is still there. This is an example of Hindus Broad nature.

With the judgement of Supreme Court, this temple was administered by people in October 1994 and under Chairmanship of Shree Kalika temple Public Trust, the administration is made by Receiver appointed by District Session Court. Pavagadh is 50 KM. far away from Vadodara.
